Hey it’s Murph here, just some info on who I am for those that don’t know me. I am an Application Engineer for a Autodesk reseller. Been there since Sept of 2006. Prior to that I was a GIS Tech/drafting supervisor for an electrical utility in Tennessee and a part time instructor at a local Technical College teaching students how to use plain AutoCAD the right way.
So why the title of Map 3D and Murph’s Law? Well the blog will be about Map 3D and the Murph law is a short version of Murphy’s Law or as I like to say, “It works OK when you try it, but right in the middle of a demo or presentation it will crash.”
I’m looking at this page: https://map3d.wordpress.com/2007/12/19/surface-from-ned-files/#comments
Thanks for your instruction here. I made it most of the way. My contours came in with the correct elevations. However, they are not in the correct location. Somewhere, I’ve gone wrong. Can you help me?
Thanks,
Aaron
Sounds like you are using two different coordinate systems. Make sure the dwg has the same CS as the NED files.
I agree. I attempted to do this (have from the start of my attempts). I’m not sure what CS the NED file is using. What system would you say I should be using if I use the linked meta file’s info: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/file/get/581d2267e4b08da350d54ade?f=__disk__d3%2Fa1%2Fda%2Fd3a1da80d03ea1bb7a87da19dc9d00100fb17f00&transform=1&allowOpen=true
I am picking the incorrect one.
Thanks.
hey Murph. Can i get an email from you?
Sure if you mean links on each others blogs, I’m for it.
Hi Murph,
I am in the process of building traffic at my 3D laser scanning blog. Would you be interested in swapping links?
Thanks,

Hi Murph,
Great. But I have a serious problem in AutoCAD Map2008 and AutoCAD Map2000i.While I export any file to .shp format(from Acad map 2008 and acad map 2000i) the column value of the attribute has changed. But I need it in same way.
Plz give me some solution regarding this issue.
Thanks
Utpal
Hi Murph,
Great Blog! I have been a regular reader over the past year or so and you have inspired me to join you and start my own, as Map seems to be getting swamped by Civil Blogs 😉
Thought you might like to check it out.
